Bregandian Battle Commendations - 7/3/1999
Koaratos, Day 3, in the year 5099
[House Phoenix, Library]The library of the House is a largish room, with the walls completely hidden by bookcases. A wide selection of reading material can be seen from a cursory glance at the shelves. Treatises on science and history stand next to ancient volumes on forest lore and magic. One rather extensive section seems devoted to arms and armor and the many subjects dealing with the arts of war. Locked glass-fronted cabinets hold rare tomes and fragile scrolls and even the odd clay tablet. You also see a spiral staircase, a carved red sandstone pedestal with an ancient volume on it, a trash barrel and a plain wooden table with a gold-trimmed modwir plaque on it.
Also in the room: (Lady Evialla who is scribing), Lady Aurla, Journeyman Requem, Cryheart, Clunk, Tinen, Haephestus, Lady Hyssopp, Lord Amarule, Germinal, Ralvorn, Zoare, Geijon, Journeyman Awan, Lord Waldo2, Barquentine, Graffy, Gwenneth, Mattiheo, Hyssopp, Haephestus, Cryheart, Joloven, Rosamor, Sporati and Lord Cynric, who are all seated.

Voodooboy hugs you and exclaims, "meow!"

Germinal smiles and beams happily at you!
Voodooboy licks a bottle of fresh creamy milk.
Geijon grins and leans on his cane, as he gives you a good pinch!
Tegaron smiles at you.
Cynric takes a drink from his honeyed herb tea.
Clunk grunts and motions for a drink, tapping a keg of amber lager. He takes a drink from his amber lager and grunts in satisfaction.
Amarule chuckles.
Geijon chuckles and leans on his cane as he says, "heh"
Cynric leans on his cane and says, "Heh."
You smile at Geijon.
Geijon shifts his weight and says, "Its a ruse.."
Clunk grunts, a quizzical look on his face as he peers quizzically at Geijon.
Cynric says, "I can't stand on my own much anymore."
Geijon winks at Clunk as he lets out a loud snarling growl and goes berserk! He jumps to his feet snarling in anger and spins around looking for something to attack!
Clunk gulps.
Geijon lets out a blood curdling scream of frustration! The berserker's rage leaves Geijon's eyes and he looks weakened.
Clunk and Awan grunt, obviously terrified, as Voodooboy cowers away from Geijon!
Geijon whistles tunelessly to himself as he puts a gold-capped black fel cane in his veniom-threaded backpack. Grinning, he sits down.
Ralvorn grins while Zoare and Amarule chuckle.
Geijon says, "ye were nae polymorph'd Voodoo, so ye cinnae act like a cat", poking Voodooboy in the ribs.
Voodooboy whines and says, "I like kitties though"
Geijon begins chuckling at Voodooboy.
Amarule peers quizzically at Geijon.
Geijon chuckles and nods curtly to you.
Geijon asks, "aye Amarule?"
You bite Geijon!
Amarule says, "Nothin, just haven't seen that before."
Hyssopp asks, "Are we ready to start?"
Geijon grins and says, "nevah done it afore"
Hyssopp recites:
"Welcome everyone to the monthly meeting""Tonight is very special. We will conduct business later, but first Cryheart will introduce a guest."
Cryheart nods.
Hyssopp smiles at Cryheart and says, "everyone else please have a seat."
You glance over at Cryheart and you see...
Cryheart Thaxin the Human Blademaster.
He appears to be in his 80's, has long, straight golden blond hair, blue eyes, and tannedskin.
He has a tattoo of a white skull on a field of black on his neck, and a soaring red dragon tattoo on his arm.
He is in good shape.

Cryheart says,"Unfortunately, not many of the Guard officers could make it tonight it seems..probably due to time of meeting..""anyways...I would like to introduce Haephestus, Sergaent Major of the Guard...He trains the recruits and assists the Field Marshall with battle plans. He was just appointed Sergaent Major last night, by the way.
But..I will nae embarrass him any further... he has composed a song about the battle..that he will sing for us..when ye are ready for that"

Hyssopp says,"Tonight Phoenix would like to honor the Wehnimers Gaurd and the Phoenix Protectors.
Hyssopp continues, These two find militias gave an excellent showing during the invasion by the Bregandians."
Hyssopp adds, “What inspired this ceremony was not only their valor, but their conduct.""I will ask a blessing to the gods for this ceremony..the Lord Haephestus will honor us with song."
Hyssopp says, “Afterwards..I would like Germinal and Geijon to come up and share a few words. Then members of the militia and our Protectors to come forward for a special honor"

Geijon, you, and the rest of the assembled group move to a kneeling position and begin to pray, continuing to beseech the gods for mercy and guidance.
Cryheart touches a dark crimson Kai symbol
Hyssopp taps a golden Lumnis symbol, Amarule gives a grey Tonis ring a smooch, Germinal touches a leaf-shaped Imaera pin, and Haephestus touches an iron anvil earring.
Hyssopp recites:
Oh great Kai bless this ceremony as we honor the brave men and women who protect Wehnimers.
Keep their hearts noble and true.
As they serve thee and the great Akarti in keeping safe our lands and noble our domain.

Hyssopp nods to Haephestus as Gwenneth tilts her head up, Germinal and Clunk say, "Amen", and the assembled gathering return to their seats.

"To begin, let us reflect on the many sacrifices made during the battle.Much pain and suffering was endured by those who chose to stand against the Bregandian aggressors."
"It is just as well for us that we have such selfless, hard-working empaths and clerics to make sure that very few met their final fate. They were the unhailed Heroes and heroines of the war""And yet, for those whose souls did not survive this terrible conflict, I'd like to mark their ultimate sacrifice with a moment of silence, If we could please..."
Haephestus nods, as Germinal hangs his head, then blinks and sighs, while Awan bows, sighing as Clunk gazes in wonder at his surroundings.
Germinal recites:
"Surely, in any battle of this ferocity, there is always the risk of death. It takes great men and women, pure of heart and sure of purpose. To stare unblinking into the very face of oblivion. We are here tonight to remember what those men and women did for us. Because, you see, we are not Vornavis...we cannot fund a standing army...And so those brave faces who stood unflinching on the battle line that day. Were our brothers and sisters...our mothers and fathers...our neighbors and friends..."
"But when the call came, they answered. When all looked lost, they stood firm. This is the definition of duty. We heard the screams for help across the amulet. We saw the piles of dead grow in town and on the battlefield, and still they stood firm. The dead were cleared and tended to, and we fought on. Our will was simply too strong, for we were fighting for our very home!"

Awan says, "May those that paid the ultimate price for their sacrifice be ever in our memories and our hearts."

Haephestus sighs solemly and says, "Aye, tha they shall."

Hyssopp says, "Gentlemen..the members of Phoenix would like to offer a small token of our thanks and esteem to you."

Hyssopp says, "Requem..with our most humble gratitude", as she offers Requem a red Kai sash.
Requem accepts Hyssopp's Kai sash and smiles as he bows to Hyssopp and blushes, placing his red Kai sash around his waist.
Hyssopp and Requem shake hands as Hyssopp kisses Requem on the cheek.

Requem removes a keg of amber lager from in his oilskin miner's pack as he grins and takes a drink from his amber lager.

Requem stands at ease, then sits down.
Hyssopp says, "Geijon..will call the brave members of Phoenix Protectors and those who fought with us to the front please"
Geijon stands up and says,"Cryheart, as a membah o' both an' th' burden o' both duties. Please step forward an' recieve th' applause o' th' assembl'd fer yer bravery an' honor"
Cryheart blinks and stands up.
Geijon smiles and bows to Cryheart.

Germinal smiles, as Requem grins.
