Power Corrupts

Good Vs. Evil: Do you know where you stand?

As I have watched the events in our fair land of Kulthea recently, it has become increasingly clear that the dark hand of the evil unlife has taken a firm grip on the moral fiber of our world. While not blatantly obvious to a new resident of Kelfour's Landing, the evil is certainly known and either ignored or embraced by the older residents of our land. Due to these conditions, I suspect that many of the middle-aged and newer residents have been DUPED into the service of the Unlife perhaps without any realization of what they were doing. While I don’t want to tell anyone how they should run their lives, I do believe that we all have the right to make informed choices about our morals and alignments with good and/or evil. Toward this end I write this article.

Ok, lets get right down to it. If you didn’t already know, there is an evil Unlife sponsored Cult in our very town. Most, if not all of your friends are probably members. It is located under Chelder's Bathhouse with the main entrance in the bathhouse proper. The "Society of Light" as they like to call themselves, has little to do with light and goodness at all. They offer evil powers to any who will serve them by offering up items and skins to further some obscure purposes. These powers while mild at first become truly staggering in scope as one gains favor in the organization. However, the cost for these powers also grows leading to loss of large amounts of power points and amazingly loss of *Life* points for high ranking individuals. They offer evil powers to any that will serve them by offering up items and skins to further some obscure purposes. These powers while mild at first become truly staggering in scope as one gains favor in the organization. However, the cost for these powers also grows leading to loss of large amounts of power points and amazingly loss of *Life* points for high ranking individuals. In fact, the very highest "Graduates" of the organization are given the power to annihilate themselves at will in service to the Unlife. Proof of my statements is readily available in the Tomes of Kulthea located at our local library. Advancement in the Cult even requires one to read some of the important passages in the Tomes regarding the subject, yet I fear that many of us have missed the warning signs or have elected to ignore them. Proof also lies in the actions of the society. It is undisputed that society "Dark Assassins" have attacked and in some cases killed any who have attempted to stand against them. Ask Landreth, Riverwind, Tulkas and others who have had one stalking them. I personally expect one to come for me when these words see print.

Ah well, as the saying goes: Power corrupts. However, there is another saying that I much prefer: Good always triumphs in the end. An important note however is my use of the word -Most- when describing membership in the society. Not all of us have fallen into the trap and though our numbers are exceedingly small we have the strength of will and character that I am confident will win out in the end. We have received little help from the Gods, making it exceedingly difficult to combat the Cult directly, yet we refuse to give up or give in. After months and months of waiting for the Gods of all that is good and right to lend us guidance, we decided that the gods will help those who attempt to help themselves and have begun to battle the Cult without any help and in any way we can think of. Wondrous success was achieved by Wisraith Winterwind and Lythe L'Green who invaded the sanctum and reported killing the following individuals: The Grand Taskmaster, The Master of Services The Master of Gifts, The Grand Inquisitor and even The Grand Poobah himself! Unfortunately, the positions were yet again filled in short order by more Unlife servants and the mode of attack used has been subsequently defended against by the Cult. Next, we decided to stage a campaign to thwart and educate Cult members for an entire weekend by staging a sit-in on top of their precious trapdoor entrance in the bathhouse. The effort put into this by all participants was enormous proving that the spirit of goodness is surely not dead in the land. Special recognition should go again to Wisraith Winterwind for doing a super job of refining the original idea and doing the huge job of organizing the whole thing. (To those of you who got so upset when your evil path was blocked, you really should pay more attention to what it is your involved in, and perhaps if you did you would have known that there are at least two other entrances right in town, that were NOT blocked.) Planning continues for more ways to oppose the Cult...

It is my hope that this information may open the eyes of some of you to make a more informed choice on how to proceed, and I wish you all luck no matter what path you decide to follow. I am making my preparations to face the Dark Assassins now and even if they do get me I shall die with my soul at peace and with a SIGN OF DEFIANCE on my lips.

Courage,
-Lord Fxg Lyon, Dec. 6th, 90"
